ADT Presents O9-1O

ANCHORAGE, AK - Alaska Dance Theatre announces the 2009-2010 Dance Season featuring a 4 event Dance Series and the annual Alaska Dance Theatre School of Dance Student Showcase.

The Dance Series includes the On the Verge: Choreographer's Showcase and Favorite Tales and Stories in the Alice Bassler Sullivan Theatre and two MainStage concerts: The Winter Repertory Concert and INTERSECTIONS with Gabriel Otevrel, both in the Discovery Theatre.

Company Director Sarah Grunwaldt will lead the company through a season performing a number of new works. 09-10 guest choreographers include Kenneth von Heidecke, Densie Dabrowski, Gabriel Otevrel, Bryan Ketron and 09-10 resident choreographers include Nicole Maple, Sarah Grunwaldt and others.  Alaska Dance Theatre is the first and only Resident Dance Company at the Alaska Center for the Performing Arts. The Company is comprised of adult professional dancers with a new division called Company II, which is made up of young pre-professional students on their way to a career in dance.

Over its 28 year history, the Company has presented works by such choreographers as Tudor, Fokine and Balanchine as well as contemporary works by Tomm Rudd, Judy Austin, Dennis Spaight, Margo Sappington, Jeffery Marc Rockland, Joan Woodbury, Robert Barnett, Shelley Freydont, John Landovsky, Tim O'Slynne, Donlin Foreman, Israel Gabriel, Brian Jeffery, Marianela Boan, Troy Powell, Gabriel Otevrel, Annie Arnoult Beserra, Amy Young, Toni Pimble, James Sewell and Minh Tran.

Alaska Dance Theatre continues to produce collaborative work by providing dancers and choreography for numerous artistic projects with other arts organizations in Anchorage, including Anchorage Opera and Anchorage Symphony Orchestra.
